Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.

Most residential customers save 40 to 70% on their electricity bills. The exact amount depends on your usage, roof orientation, and system size. We’ll model your specific savings as part of your free quote, with no commitment required.

We’ll tell you honestly if solar isn’t right for your property. Common concerns like partial shading, roof angle, or roof material all have solutions, and in some cases ground-mount or carport systems are a great alternative. We’ll always give you a straight answer.

Solar panels are low maintenance. Occasional cleaning and an annual inspection is usually all that’s needed. We install products with 10 to 25 year performance warranties and provide local maintenance and monitoring support for the life of your system.

Standard grid-tied solar systems automatically shut off during a power cut for safety reasons. If you want backup power, you’ll need a battery storage system (like a Tesla Powerwall). We can design a system that keeps your essential loads running even when the grid goes down. Ask us about battery options.

Yes. We can guide you in the right direction to get the right advice from your bank or broker. Many customers fund their system through a mortgage top-up or a green loan, and we’ll point you in the right direction during the quoting process.

A “solar orphan” is a solar system whose installer has gone out of business. With many solar companies entering and exiting the market, it’s a very real risk, and it leaves customers with no warranty support, no maintenance, and no one to call when something goes wrong.

Seven Electrical has been operating in the Wellington region for over 20 years. We’re part of the Aotea Group, a substantial New Zealand business, so you can be confident we’ll be here to support your system for its entire lifetime. When you choose Seven, you’re not just buying solar. You’re buying the relationship and long-term support that protects your investment.
